What are risks in buying Sony Camcorder discontinued models DCR-DVD705 and 755?

These camcorders are for sale at about 40% off because they are discontinued. What risks will I be taking if I buy them? I can now afford to buy it at this price. I have been wanting to buy a camcorder especially to capture my kids performances in better quality than my Canon Powershot.

You are not taking any risk. The manufactures warranty is still effective and the product itself is good but simply superseded by a new model that may have new features.
If you are satisfied the camcorder will do what you want there is no more risk then if it was a current model. I would go for it. I often buy discontinued or obsolete items because I can get more for my money.
