This is a review of the new (as of early April) Flip SlideHD Camcorder. This video shows you what it does, some of the features, controls, as well as some side-by-side comparisons to the early predecessors, the Ultra Mino, and (used here) the UltraHD. We compare audio and video quality between the Ultra and Slide, and demo the image quality in full detail (1280x720p, 29.97FPS). The ONLY THINGS I FORGOT to show, was the USB port, and how to access it. The other was yet again, no image stabilization. The all important thing here was, to show you how it works, looks, and some actual videos from it.

The new iPhone 3G S lets you take videos, edit them and post directly to YouTube, or send them via MMS or email. Some tech watchers say this spells the end for mini camcorders like the Flip. I took a Flip Mino HD and an iPhone 3G S to Vancouver's False Creek for some comparison video shooting. This video wasn't a direct upload from the iPhone; I combined some clips to compare to similar shots I took with the Flip Mino HD. The really wobbly bits come from holding both camcorders at once to get a totally side-by-side comparison.

I compare a couple sub- fisheye lenses for my pocket camcorder Kodak ZX3 Playsport. It should fit on most Flip, Kodak, JVC, Vado pocket camcorders. Pure digital specializes in easy to use, and easy to pocket, camcorders. In this case, both the Ultra and the Mino are of the HD variety and produce very similar looking video. However, the Ultra HD has the most recent flip video engine yielding slightly better video and a lower a price. It is however much more bulky than the Mino HD which retails for more.
